Here is another press release we received a few days ago. Champagne lovers, this one's for you!
New website, ChampagneGuide.net, is an online guide to the wines and wine producers of Champagne. It features over 100 Champagne houses and estates, as well as tasting notes for over 600 champagnes currently on the market. A wide variety of producers are included, from large, well-known brands to tiny, up and coming estates, and the tasting notes cover everything from value-oriented, non-vintage bruts up to the most expensive luxury cuvees. "For this guide, I visit the champagne producers themselves and taste the wines in the place that they were made, walking the vineyards, seeing the cellars and talking with the winemakers in order to truly set the wines in a proper context. I visit most of the featured producers multiple times a year, and I taste new champagnes nearly every day. I watch how the wines evolve and constantly update the existing information as I taste and re-taste," explains Peter Liem, creator of ChampagneGuide.net. ChampagneGuide.net is a resource unlike any other: an authoritative, comprehensive and continuously updated guide to the wines and wine producers of Champagne, written from the perspective of a professional wine critic living in the Champagne region. Also, ChampagneGuide.net deliberately seeks to move away from the 100-point scale and sterile tasting environment so pervasive in wine journalism today. Access to the website is by subscription, currently US$89 a year, or roughly the price of a single bottle of vintage champagne.
