Chopin Potato Vodka
Recommended By: Monique Farah, Vodka Expert
“Founded in 1992, Chopin has been one of the most dominant Polish potato vodkas on the market for the last 20 years. Crafted from potatoes grown only from select local farmers free of chemicals or pesticides, Chopin is four times distilled through a simple copper column still, and five times filtered. Chopin harvests late in the season to ensure a richer flavor from the high starch content. Due to the success of Chopin “Potato” the distillery also released a “wheat” and “rye” vodka to complete their exquisite portfolio.”
I love Chopin because I consider it a “full circle vodka.” It starts off incredibly clean and then transitions into a slight earthy sweetness, before fading back to a clean finish. The earthiness is perfect for anything savory because it actually elongates the salty finish instead of working against it. Unlike most potato vodkas that tend to have a longer, grainier finish, Chopin finishes clean and light, which is optimal for most cocktails. The bite relinquishes your tongue after the initial sip, leaving you with a rich and delicious flavor. My favorite drink is “The Spicy Mojo” Chopin, which is a dirty Martini with a splash of Tabasco.
