Casa Noble Reposado Tequila | As Featured in Volume 7, Issue 3 of Alcoholmanac Magazine

Casa Noble Reposado Tequila
La Cofradia | Jalisco, Mexico
40% ABV

Recommended By: Geoff Saure, Bel Air Cantina

“At 364 days of oak barrel resting, Casa Noble Reposado is as close to an añejo tequila as you can get. The cost is very reasonable considering the quality of tequila that you receive. The taste is unparalleled and allows for a balance between French white oak and the agave flavor. I wouldn't hesitate to offer this tequila to someone who "does not like tequila." When I see Casa Noble on the shelf, that's what I order.”

Tasting Notes:

Geoff is absolutely right to offer this to someone who claims they don’t like tequila. Casa Noble would convert anyone! Big caramel and vanilla set off the nose first, followed by a light brininess, some woody, peppery oak and sweet butterscotch. The flavor is huge caramel and butterscotch, with some pepper, butter and a very subdued agave presence. It finishes creamy with delicious salted caramel and light pepper. Everything about this tequila is rich decadence. It’s candy in a glass.

Maestro Dobel has graced our pages before, but we simply couldn’t leave it out of a discussion about quality Lowland tequila! Don’t be fooled by this masterpiece’s clear color; the first ever “multi-aged” clear tequila, Maestro Dobel is actually a blend of reposado (2 months to 1 year aged), añjeo (at least 1 year but less than 2 years aged) and extra-añejo (more than 2 years aged) 100% Blue Agave single estate tequilas, which are then filtered to remove all color imparted by the barrel-aging process.

Dobel has a heady aroma of white flowers, grass, caramel, butterscotch, green and black pepper, and just a hint of earthiness that rounds out the bouquet. The big, oily mouthfeel carries flavors of mostly caramel and vanilla bean with traces of pepper and soft stone fruit. A long, luxurious finish of salted caramel and subtle agave leaves your mouth yearning for the next sip, which I highly recommend you indulge … again and again.

Jose Cuervo Extra Anejo

Tequila Cuervo La Rojena

Everyone has a spirit they just don’t touch. Jose Cuervo is mine. Since one fateful night many years ago, I haven’t found a Cuervo I could stand ... until now, that is. Definitely not a shot liquor, this Tequila gave off an almost whiskey-like aroma resounding with heavy caramel and bourbon oak notes. The aroma continued into its taste, differing only with its subtle hints of agave interrupting its whiskey-like oratory. This Tequila refused to quit, coating our mouths with its bold flavor and leaving us with a sweet aftertaste that kept us reaching for more.

We were pleased by the salty caramel mixed with wood and hints of agave in the aroma that drifted up from the Caliende Añejo. More agave-forward on the palate than most Añejos, this Tequila has a sweet, slightly tangy, fresh flavor with hints of oak and licorice. This Tequila is certainly worth a look, especially if you prefer a more agave forward añejo.
