Callanan's Parkway Pub

An Irish sports bar? Does it get more festive than that? Callanan’s Parkway Pub, located where Oklahoma meets National Avenue in West Allis, is the place to meet your friends or coworkers for the next happy hour tryst or night out. The bar has recently undergone an external facelift and you can’t miss the large orange sign out front. Ample lot space and nearby street parking give you no excuse to avoid the temptation to stop in. Believe me,
I drive by this place each and
every day.

Stonefly Brewery PDF Print E-mail
Bars & Clubs - Riverwest

a photo of Stonefly BreweryRiverwest is one of the more mysterious bar districts in Milwaukee. Few of us tend to be familiar with where Riverwest is located, and what bars, restaurants, or businesses are located within.  One thing is certain; there is truly unique appeal to many of the establishments in Riverwest. Among them is Stonefly Brewery, one of Milwaukee’s local craft brewpubs.

Stonefly is located at the site of the former Onopa Brewery on Center Street. On the outside, it’s an unassuming yet inviting building with classic appeal. On the inside, eclectic artwork and collectables surround a spacious dining and bar area. Toward the back sits a stage just waiting to entertain. You see, Stonefly hosts an array of performances from live music acts all the way to the Ex Fabula storytelling competition.  That’s right, a storytelling competition. I bet I’ve got your attention now! There was one in early April, but check out the Stonefly website for future shows, or look up Ex Fabula online. No, seriously, you must see this.

a photo of Bosco's Social ClubThe next time you’re looking for a place to grab a pint and enjoy some good conversation, stop in to one of Waukesha’s newest nightlife destinations. A hit with Waukesha natives since its opening in February of 2011, Bosco’s Social Club is reminiscent of a ‘50s style bar that has seemingly been around for decades. With unheard-of daily drink specials and live music on the weekends, the Social Club lives up to its name, drawing in people of all ages and walks of life.

Bars & Clubs - East Side

a photo of Nomad World PubThe main attraction at Nomad World Pub on Brady Street in Milwaukee is undoubtedly the football. No, we’re not talking about catching a game of American football featuring our beloved green and gold. Here, you’ll hop the pond from the comfort of your bar stool to catch some European football action featuring teams from across the world. With an impressive beer list (featuring more than 20 tap varieties and at least 80 different bottles to choose from), The Nomad is the perfect place to stop for a pint and some quality entertainment.

Whether your favorite club is competing in the English Premier League, Spain’s La Liga or the UEFA Champions League (a tournament of the best teams from all of European football), stop in to catch the game you’ve been looking forward to all week. The bar fills up early for weekend games, so don’t wait until the last minute to claim your seat … and when I say early, I mean patrons pack this venue by 6:30 am to cheer on their favorite teams! As an extra bonus for rousing early on your day off, The Nomad provides complementary toast Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Brewski’s Sports Club PDF Print E-mail
Bars & Clubs - Wauwatosa

a photo of Brewski's Sports ClubSometimes, a bar doesn’t live up to its name. I learned that lesson when I walked into a Southern California bar called Ye Village Inn and discovered that it was a biker bar whose patrons didn’t exactly take too kindly to an outsider walking into their clubhouse. Fortunately, sometimes it works in the opposite direction. That’s the case with Brewski’s Sports Club. It’s a place that transcends its name and offers a lot more than a superficial glance would suggest.

When picturing the typical sports bar, you probably imagine a place filled with HDTVs and not much else. Now, Brewski’s does fulfill this aspect by providing 25 flat screens to watch your favorite team play and not miss any action. They also run a free shuttle to and from every Brewers home game.
