You might be surprised to learn that The Tonic Tavern isn't named after a mixer. The name instead refers to a technical musical term for the tonal center of a piece of music. This moniker is appropriate, since The Tonic should be the center of your night out in Bay View. This music geek moniker shouldn't come as a huge surprise, however, since the owner of this tavern is Paul Jonas, a member of legendary local band the 5-Card Studs.

 You might have a hard time finding the Palm Tavern. That's because their only signage is a red and blue neon sign with their name on it, and it is located in a fairly nondescript building. Palm Tavern is worth discovering thanks to a ridiculously wide array of beers and whiskeys from around the world. They really do offer one of the best bar experiences in Bay View.

The Stone is Bay View's quintessential neighborhood bar. It proves that sometimes it's not what a bar has that makes it great, but rather what it doesn't have. The Stone doesn't have any gimmicks and is utterly pretension-free, and this is why it rocks. The people here are very friendly and warm and everyone is just looking to have a good time. That's why it would make the perfect place to start or end a night out in Bay View. This friendly vibe is derived from co-owners Kristin Pochowski and Shawn Leet, and it trickles down to all of their bartenders and regular customers. If you come to this neighborhood bar regularly enough, you will be surrounded by new friends.

The cute decor and lighting at Burnhearts is reminiscent of a coffee shop, only the specialty here is booze, not espresso. Owners William and Jessica Seidel and Tanya Bruski have decorated Burnhearts with love and care. From the caramel shade of brown on the walls to the fancy light fixtures and even the homemade-looking open sign, everything here seems like it was a labor of love.

Ole, ole, ole, ole! The Highbury Pub is Bay View's home for football or, as people around here call it, soccer. It has an eclectic European feel and is a great place to take in one of the matches. All of the games are shown here. So even if a game is shown at six in the morning, the Highbury will be open. British soccer club Arsenal is sort of like the pseudo-home team here, since the Highbury takes it's name from Arsenal's former stadium. Even if Arsenal's not your favorite team, you can still show off your team’s colors with pride and be among friends at the Highbury. Heck, my roommate frequently visits here decked out in Manchester City colors and never once has he had a bottle smashed over his head.
