There has always been something alluring about the low-lit jazz club to the American psyche. It’s where you find a world of gumshoe detectives and femme fatales all lit in a shadowy film noir dream.
You’d think that world was left behind long ago by big cities like New York, Los Angeles, or even Chicago. Yet, tucked into Milwaukee’s youthful East Side, The Jazz Estate has been a respite not only for blues and jazz devotees, but also those looking for a taste of that classic ‘50s jazz club style.
Seemingly in protest to its unassuming façade, The Jazz Estate has only gained greater reverence throughout its thirty-plus years by bringing in excellent national acts and bringing up aspiring local talent in a great-sounding venue. Warm and clear in its acoustics, the room has been specifically chosen by jazz musicians to record live albums because it lends a lush sound. The small tables are set perfectly for sipping your drink as close to the musicians as you please. Live music is played five nights a week, so you have plenty of opportunity to put on some of your finest duds and toast to a great night at Milwaukee’s most prized jazz bar.
