Taylor's People's Park

From the moment you step inside Taylor’s People’s Park on Main Street in downtown Waukesha, you’ll be delightfully surprised by its eclectic look and feel. The intricate figurine art hanging on the wall behind the bar adds a unique esthetic to the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere. Beginning with a slight upper-hand, People’s Park was established by the same owners as the already successful hotspot Taylor’s, located in Milwaukee’s Cathedral Square. One of the first bars in recent years to take part in the nightlife revival effort of the downtown Waukesha area, People’s Park has been a welcomed addition to their nightlife scene. With great drinks and fantastic food, this upscale venue is a prime place to stop by for a drink or take a date.

Upon its initial opening roughly three years ago, People’s Park was greeted with open arms by Waukesha natives; however, their momentum came to an abrupt halt on February 8th, 2011 when a fire severely damaged the venue. Despite the devastating wreckage, owners Dan and Jim Taylor worked diligently for nearly a year to repair their digs. Along with the restoration of the first floor, the Taylor brothers took it a step further by adding a second floor and rooftop patio. As you ascend the stairs, you’ll find that the second floor offers a fully-stocked second bar with additional seating and tables with views of the first floor. After stopping for a drink at the first two floors, venture further upward to the rooftop patio, where there is even more table seating surrounded by fantastic views of the city. On cooler nights, modern outdoor heaters add to the ambiance while giving off just enough heat to help you last through the evening.

Taylor's People's ParkServing lunch and dinner during the week and brunch on the weekends, People’s Park dishes out amazing food that keep the customers rolling in. The daily menu consists of a variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrées and desserts. I recommend kicking off your meal with one of the many appetizer options, such as the Thai Picnic Chicken Skewers or the always-delicious Park Fries (sweet potato fries). Entrée choices include the Pesto Chicken Sandwich, the uniquely flavored Asian Bleu Salad, and the Glazed Salmon Filet. Finally, enjoy the ‘Best’ Hot Fudge Sundae, Chocolate Esprit or Strawberry Napoleon
for dessert.

Taylor's People's ParkFor brunch, People’s Park aims to please with an array of standard and unique breakfast dishes. The picky eaters can steer toward the ‘Build Your Own’ Three Egg Omelet, Crème Brûlée or Stuffed French Toast. Brunch aficionados can choose from the Scotch Eggs, Eggs Benedict, Big Breakfast ‘Sammie’ and a Breakfast Burrito. People’s Park serves brunch from 10:30 am to 2 pm, so stop in this weekend to satisfy your breakfast munchies.

Happy hour at People’s Park takes place from 3 to 7 pm weekdays, where you’ll find $3 mixers, $4 house wines and $1 off taps. People’s Park stays open late each night, keeping customers satisfied long after happy hour is over. The bar begins humming around dinnertime and often fills up as early as 9 or 10 pm on the weekends, making it a wise decision to stop in early for a bite to eat and to reserve a seat for the night’s festivities.
